Can-Am Spyder Reverse Trike starting @ $17,000 USD approx (order now at your local CanAm Dealer)
The Can-Am Spyder has electrically boosted power steering, 5-speed trans with electronic actuation as a $1500 option, reverse gear, Traction Control, Stability Control and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution. It uses a liquid-cooled, 998cc, DOHC 106hp Rotax V-Twin, basically the same engine used in the Aprilia sport bikes, but it's slightly detuned from it's original 130hp and geared down for this application when one keeps in mind the extra weight of a 3-wheeler versus a sportbike. The engine powers the rear wheel through a toothed, carbon-reinforced rubber belt and the exhaust meets CARB, EPA and Euro2 emission standards. The Spyder is electronically limited to a 110-mph top speed and the factory estimates fuel mileage should be in the range of 30-35mpg even taking into consideration the sporting nature of its design and the riders.
