Phillip Coyle Homebuilt Reverse Trike
This project was built very simple and made of all metal. Most of the parts came from stuff that I had laying around the place and with not much forethought. I just wanted a trike and I could not afford one of the kits that I have seen so I just jumped in and started to build. I did draw up some plans, but other then the bottom frame not much else followed them. As I built I thought of a better way of doing things and just did it.
Not counting the wait for the steering parts it took me about 4 months to build it. I am disabled so I could only work for a few hours a day and then I would just set back and look at what had been done. Then I would think of the next steps and go from there. I looked at lots of photo's of things that others have done to get some ideas, but I also wanted it to be very simple to work on as time pasts. I made the top so that I can take it off and get to everything from the dash to the front-end.
I have about 30 miles on it so far (2008') and my biggest problem is with the clutch. It seems to be getting better as I tweek on it to get just the right free play on the cable. I had to change the shifter since I had the old one break twice on both of the first runs. It now shifts great and very easy. I guess you can call it lots of R&D on a new build. Phillip Coyle - Texas
